Nets GM banned; Dudley fined 25G

- BY DAILY NEWS STAFF

The Nets’ General Manager is facing some heat.

Sean Marks will serve a one-game suspension and have to pay a $25,000 fine for entering the referees’ locker room after Game 4 of the Nets-Sixers matchup Saturday..

The NBA also announced Sunday Jared Dudley was fined $25,000 and Jimmy Butler $15,000 for their role in a thirdquarter altercation after Dudley pushed Joel Embiid after the latter’s hard foul on Jarrett Allen. Neither Dudley nor Butler received suspensions after their Game 4 ejections.

Marks will serve his suspension without pay on Tuesday, as the team plays Game 5 of the first-round series in Philadelphia.

Tensions were still high following the Nets’ 108-112 loss to the Sixers. After the game, Nets players and Kenny Atkinson were especially upset at what they viewed as an egregious non-call on Tobias Harris, for a wraparound on Jarrett Allen with five seconds left. There was also an obvious push in the back from Ben Simmons on the offensive rebound that led to JJ Redick’s big 3-pointer.

Late Sunday night, the NBA admitted a foul should have been called on Harris.

Also Sunday night, Nets owner Joe Tsai tweeted: “My partners and I have spoken and the entire Nets ownership group support our GM Sean Marks for protesting the wrong calls and missed calls. NBA rules are rules and we respect that, but our players and fans expect things to be fair.”

San Antonio Spurs guard DeMar DeRozan has been fined $25,000 by the NBA for heaving a ball past an official and into the stands in a playoff game against the Denver Nuggets.
