Cop at site of ax killing quits force

- BY GRAHAM RAYMAN AND ERIKA MARTINEZ

A rookie cop, who refused to escort an FDNY Emergency Medical Services lieutenant to the scene of an ax murder — leaving a 4-year-old girl alone in a bloody Brooklyn apartment with a corpse — has quit the force, authorities said Thursday.

Sean Doohan turned in his gun and shield on April 27, one week after he ignored the request to check on the child in an eighth floor apartment in the Bushwick Houses on Flushing Ave. near Humboldt St., police said.

An EMS lieutenant asked Doohan, 26, and Officer Mary Sobieski to take them up to the murder scene out of concern that the killer was still around, sources said.

Because 83rd Precinct cops Doohan and Sobieski, 31, did nothing, a pre-schooler was left alone with the nearly decapitated body of Savannah Rivera, 20, for almost an hour, authorities said.

The youngster’s mother, Angela Valle, ran from the apartment bloodied, with a weeping head wound and begged an Uber driver for help, screaming that her daughter was still inside.

Uber driver Boshra Azer, 33, was just as astounded by the police suspensions since Valle immediately began telling people that her pre-schooler was still upstairs in the apartment.

“She was telling everyone, ‘Please help my daughter, please help my daughter,’” said driver Boshra Azer. “When the cops came, I asked them, ‘What about the daughter, she’s a hostage?’ They said to me … they can’t get in the house. There are other cops who can get in the house.”

Valle’s ex-boyfriend, Jerry Brown, 34, allegedly used an ax to attack her and kill Rivera, her best friend.

It was only when NYPD Housing cops showed up that EMS was able to get into the gruesome crime scene, find Rivera and usher Valle’s daughter to safety. Valle is recovering at Elmhurst Hospital Center, her mother told the Daily News.

Brown was later arrested and charged with murder, attempted murder and assault. He’s being held on Rikers Island.
