Now it’s slay rap as stab victim dies

- BY THOMAS TRACY

Police arrested a man accused of fatally beating and robbing a 61-year-old Hell’s Kitchen resident in what may have been a romantic liaison gone wrong, law enforcement sources said Friday.

Rodney Brown, 49, was already charged with attempted robbery and assault for his attack on Antonio Biginao — and the charges may be upgraded now that the victim’s death has been ruled a homicide.

Biginao was found unconscious on the living room floor of his swanky W. 52nd St. apartment near 10th Ave. on May 7, officials said. Friends had not heard from him and asked police to check, officials said.

Medics rushed Biginao, who was badly beaten, to Mount Sinai West Hospital with a damaged brain stem and a blood clot that doctors couldn’t operate on.

Biginao died May 26 after he was taken off life support, officials said. He never regained consciousness.

Detectives investigating the attack zeroed in on Brown after learning that Biginao’s credit cards were being used at a Manhattan Best Buy.

Parolee Hector Cabrera was caught with the stolen credit cards and said that Brown had given them to him, sources said.

Brown was also caught on surveillance cameras going in and out of Biginao’s building, cops said.

Police believe that Biginao let Brown into his apartment prior to the attack.

It wasn’t clear how the two men knew each other, but Biginao often hosted “sex parties” at his home, sources with knowledge of the case said.

Cops arrested Brown on May 24, two days before Biginao died and charged him with attempted robbery, assault and burglary.

The charges are expected to be upgraded to murder at his next court date now that the city’s medical examiner has declared Biginao’s death a homicide, sources said.
