Don mocked for bragging of immig fix

Cross immigration off the list!

President Trump drew mocking applause for claiming his deal to avoid imposing another round of economydestroying tariffs would “eliminate” the issue of immigration at the southern border.

Sen. Chuck Schumer (DNY) led a derisive chorus of critics who called the deal a non-event concocted to give Trump an exit strategy from his self-destructive tariffs threat.

“Now that that problem is solved, I’m sure we won’t be hearing any more about it in the future,” the Senate minority leader tweeted with tongue firmly in cheek.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi called Trump’s self-proclaimed win a hollow victory that would end up hurting America’s standing in the world.

“Threats and temper tantrums are no way to negotiate foreign policy,” Pelosi said.

Twitterati reminded the world that it wouldn’t be the first time that Trump has created a crisis only to supposedly solve it with a dramatic breakthrough that turned out to be little more than a BandAid.

Trump spent most of the week revving up his #MAGA army of supporters with warnings about a “crisis” of refugees and immigrants crossing the southern border.

With several key economic advisers out of town, he reportedly took the advice of immigration super-hardliner Stephen Miller to threaten Mexico with tariffs if it didn’t take unspecified measures to deal with migrants.

The threat backfired on Trump as Republican senators and his own economic team warned that the tariffs would hurt American consumers and manufacturers as much if not more than Mexico.

Sensing Trump’s weak political position, Schumer scoffed and predicted that he would back down as he had done in several other standoffs created by his unilateral threats. That prediction was vindicated when Trump rolled back the threat on Friday night after Mexico supposedly made “major” concessions.
