Justice for Junior: Five Bronx gang members were convicted Friday of murdering Lesandro “Junior” Guzman-Feliz (photo) in a gruesome act of depraved violence that rocked the city. The Trinitarios members chased the 15year-old into a Belmont bodega on June 20, 2018. They were caught on camera dragging the aspiring cop out of the Cruz & Chiki deli at 183rd St.
and Bathgate Ave., where they beat and stabbed him to death. Police said the teen was killed in a case of mistaken identity.
Security! NYPD officers who make extra money working security at Madison Square Garden are supervised by a disgraced ex-detective,
The News revealed Friday. Former Manhattan narcotics cop Carlos Rodriguez spent two years in a federal pen for conspiring to steal $45,000 — money he used to renovate his Long Island home. Once he got out of the pokey, he started as a security official at the Garden, where he deals regularly with active NYPD officers who work second jobs there, in uniform. The NYPD has no plan to stop cops from working at MSG, even though the department has rules about associating with felons.
Crash landing: Midtown shook Monday when a helicopter crashed on a skyscraper roof. Pilot Tim McCormack lifted off from the E. 34th Street Heliport, and 11 minutes later, his Agusta A109E aircraft smashed onto the roof of the 54-story AXA Equitable Center on Seventh Ave. at 51st St., killing him, No one else was injured.
Park payout: The men known as the Central Park
Five were quietly awarded $3.9 million in a 2016 settlement with the state, The News reportedly exclusively. The payout came two years after they got $41 million from the city for wrongful conviction. The men were exonerated in 2002 when rapist Matias Reyes confessed to the savage 1989 attack on a jogger in Central Park. DNA evidence confirmed his admission.
Not so Gooding: Actor Cuba Gooding Jr. was arrested in Manhattan on Thursday, charged with groping a woman inside the Magic Hour bar in Midtown. The Oscarwinner pleaded not guilty to forcible touching and sex abuse in Manhattan Criminal Court and was released without bail. For more on these and many other stories, visit nydailynews.com.
