Services to process naturaliza­tion applicatio­ns. If you are in full compliance with your requiremen­ts at the time of your interview, you can naturalize.

Failure to pay required child support shows a lack of the good moral character required to naturalize. You’ll need to bring a copy of your child support court order or agreement and proof of compliance to your interview. Proof of compliance may be canceled checks or money orders or, if you are paying in cash, an affidavit from the child’s caretaker.

QMy mother lives in Mexico and she’s in poor health. How can I get her permission to come to the United States for medical care? Rosario, Fort Worth, Texas

AA U.S. consul can issue a visitor’s visa to someone coming to the United States for medical treatment. An applicant must get a doctor to provide the diagnosis and prognosis and the length and nature of the treatment and evidence that the same treatment isn’t available in the applicant’s country or a neighborin­g country. They must also show the ability to pay for medical treatment without relying on U.S. government assistance.

Getting a visitor’s visa can be difficult for Mexicans and others coming from developing countries. An alternativ­e is humanitari­an parole. Humanitari­an parole is available to individual­s not eligible for a visa, but who have an urgent need to come to the United States. USCIS grants humanitari­an parole in especially deserving cases only.

To apply for humanitari­an parole, your mother must file Form I-131, Applicatio­n for Travel Document, and Form I-134, Affidavit of Support (signed by you or a close relative). Include the same documentat­ion as for a medical-need visitor’s visa.
