Garwood, N.J.: I’ve been watching the back and forth from New York City Voicers on the cyclists versus drivers issue. Obviously here in New Jersey we don’t have nearly the amount of either group. However, the cyclists do seem to have an extreme air of “this is my

road.”

It is particularly prevalent on weekend mornings when groups of five or more feel they command the road. Taking up an entire lane and not stopping for lights or crosswalks is not unusual for these weekend warriors who are getting their two days of exercise and trying to put on a fashion show at the same time.

I’m assuming their first commandment of road etiquette is to never make eye contact with auto drivers. Then all is okay.

I’m glad I don’t live in the city where you have to put up with their crap every day. John Deichmeister

Traffic stop

Middle Village: In response to Voicer Lingsworth Pendley: I understand your position after listening to the police commissioner that you feel as if the new crackdown on dangerous drivers in response to the abundance of bicyclist deaths over the last few weeks is aimed solely at drivers of automobiles. I’m here to let you know that last week, while walking to the train to go to work, I observed a uniformed NYPD officer “pull over” a bicyclist. I clearly heard the officer explain that he observed the rider go through several red traffic lights. He requested his ID and proceeded to write him a ticket. I wanted to share this story because, one, I’ve never witnessed this before and two, it would seem as if the directive to officers goes for both automobile drivers as well as bicyclists. Worst case scenario, more drivers and bicyclist are made aware of their reckless driving and we “the walking public” are a little bit safer from the dangers of both.

Slurp slurp

West Hempstead, L.I.: Tomorrow is 7/11. Hundreds of people will make their annual pilgrimages to 7-Eleven stores to participate in the ritual free Slurpee. Hundreds of plastic straws and domed plastic lids will adorn this festive elixir! Please, please, please do not throw them on the ground or put them in garbage cans. As heavy as they may be, please carry the cups home and place them in

your recycling container. Better yet, if you’re old enough not to spill, do not take a straw or lid. Wishing everyone a festive 7/11! Hopefully 7-Eleven will join Starbucks and ban plastic straws (and cups) in the near future.

Poopy situation

Briarwood: Single-use foam food containers have been banned in the the city (great news), next will be single-use plastic bags (mixed reviews on this) and a bill is being introduced to ban plastic straws (who really needs them?). Next: There are millions (if not billions) of diapers being thrown in the trash daily with only a small amount being biodegradable. Mr. Mayor, AOC: Are you willing to take this on? Let’s show California that New York is more progressive in the race to outlaw plastic diapers in favor of only biodegradable ones. Alternatively, add tax on those not biodegradable. Patricia Nuzzi

Unpaid, undervalued

Bayside: Just a question as a person who loves labor history: Did the workers at the airports in 1775 belong to a union? If not, that would mean the fight for fair wages in airports has been going on longer than we were told.

Freedom ain’t cheap

South Farmingdale, L.I.: So, I saw on TV that Bernie Sanders made a crack about the cost of the Trump July Fourth celebration and how it could have been better spent on infrastructure, etc. Really, Bernie? Mr. Austerity? Mr. Free Medicare for all, free education for all, tuition relief, open borders, all costing untold trillions of dollars that no one has or ever will have? You’re complaining about a fun celebration that Americans enjoyed watching and really do not care what it cost. Mike Pedano

Just for sport

Manhattan: I applaud Voicer Arthur Mazlin for his letter decrying the “sport” of hunting animals. I, too, think this disgusting “sport” should be outlawed. Unfortunately, our current president’s own sons set a very poor example on this issue, proudly holding up dead animals, together with Don Jr. and Eric’s big guns on display, while in Africa. There really are no adequate words — abomination, perhaps!

Changing times

Brooklyn: In response to Voicer Evelyn Zorovich: If you want a fashion show, don’t put on the news or watch TV. You should be listening to what is being said, not what men and woman are wearing, as long as they represent themselves in a respectful manner. I find casual clothing is more people friendly, and comfortable to watch. As for uniforms? Are you kidding?

Laraine Casdin

Presidential growth

Gilbert, Ariz.: Anyone else noticing this? It may have taken a while, and the job is not yet done, but is anyone else noticing that our president is acting more presidential than two years ago?

Tom Tyschper

Exile

West Sand Lake, N.Y.: In reply to Voicer Sean Sabelli: I would be elated if billions or trillions were spent to send Hillary and about 20 other Democrat libtards to the moon or preferably to a planet much further out and leave them there. It would be a great start to making this country great again!

John Grimmick

Thanks for your service

Jersey City: I applaud Voicer Judith Levine’s opinion that our moron-in-chief ’s father’s money helped get him out of the service. I did not have that option. I served in Vietnam and was proud to do my part as an American citizen.

Anthony C. Zaccone

Broadcast trash

Rochester: Would someone of national stature (preferably one of the Democratic Party presidential candidates) please tell the people of our country how full of baloney that the conservative, right-wing news media is?

GETTY The part that I find to be the most pathetic and laughable is how they play all of us and try to pretend that their “think-tanks” produce “objective,” “unbiased” and “scientific” research when all most of them really are are phony and fake propaganda factories/mills funded by corporate billionaires and deca-millionaires who want to abolish all of the social safety-net programs like Social Security and Medicare.

Stewart B. Epstein

Not analagous

Vero Beach, Fla.: Voicer John van Acken: Your analogy is the most ridiculous I have ever heard. You pick up flatware, you feed yourself. You pick up a gun, you shoot another person. ‘Nuff said!

Maureen Duddy

Bring them back

Brooklyn: I remember when there was a dedicated police unit for New York Housing Authority buildings. They were housing cops. They were separate from the NYPD. We had a small station in our development. There was also one in Bushwick Houses. The cops would patrol the area at different intervals. Then, the cops were removed from the projects. I think the cops should be stationed permanently once more in the projects.
