Giants safety punches out woman: cops

- BY DENNIS YOUNG AND LEONARD GREENE

Giants safety Kamrin Moore was arrested by police and suspended by the team after allegedly knocking out a woman following a fight that started between her and another woman outside his home, according to a report.

Moore, 22, was arrested in New Jersey over the weekend and charged with third-degree aggravated assault against a woman after “punching her in the face with a closed fist and causing her to lose consciousness,” the report said.

According to NJ.com, police said the tussle began when the victim, who had been dating Moore since January, went to Moore’s Linden home because he wasn’t replying to her texts. There, she found another woman and began fighting her before Moore got involved.

Police said Moore of placed his foot on the unidentified woman’s neck and was “applying pressure.” When the woman got up, Moore knocked her out, cops said.

The incident happened outside Moore’s home, cops said.

She suffered visible injuries to her neck and face, which police described as “bruising, swelling and abrasions,” according to NJ.com.

Moore was released after a court appearance Monday afternoon.

“New York Giants safety Kamrin Moore was arrested over the weekend in Linden, New Jersey, for an alleged domestic violencerelated incident,” the team said in a statement. “Moore has been suspended by the team pending further investigation.”

Players involved in a domestic violence incident are subject to a six-game suspension for their first offense and a possible lifetime ban for a subsequent offense under the NFL’s policy since 2016.

The policy was put in place after Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice was arrested and charged with assault for knocking out his then-fiancee in 2014 in an Atlantic City Casino elevator and dragging her out the door.

Rice was initially suspended two games and hit with a $500,000 fine, but when video of the incident surfaced, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell suspended Rice indefinitely, and the Ravens terminated his contract.

Rice was reinstated after a successful appeal in federal court, but no other team picked him up, and he never played another game in the NFL.

Rice and his fiancee were married six weeks after the fight.
