Action/drama, R. A story of redemption and danger about a man recently released from prison comes from the director of “Catch .44.” Luke Grimes (“True Blood”) plays the main character who attempts to leave his criminal life behind him. Frank Grillo (“Captain America: The Winter Soldier”) co-stars.

“The Lion King”

Family/drama, PG. Jon Favreau directs Disney’s animated-classictur­ned-live-action tale about the cub who must learn to survive after his father is killed. With the voices of Donald Glover, Beyonce, James Earl Jones, Alfre Woodward, Chiwetel Ejiofor and more.

“Brahms: The Boy II”

Horror, not yet rated. A doll “befriends” the boy who moves in to the Heelshire Mansion, much to the detriment of his family. Why would you live in a place called Heelshire Mansion? With Katie Holmes. “Mike Wallace Is Here” Documentar­y, PG-13. A look at the life of one of the most feared newsmen in broadcast journalism.

“Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood”

Action, R. Quentin Tarantino directs Leo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt as a has-been Hollywood TV star and his bodyguard, respective­ly. With Margot Robbie, Timothy Olyphant and Kurt Russell.

“Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw”

Action/comedy, PG-13. When a villain threatens humanity, Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) and Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham) team up to save the world. That old story again. With Eiza Gonzales and Idris Elba.

“Luce”

Drama, R. An adopted Eritrean boy (Kelvin Harrison Jr.) model athlete and student is accused by his teacher (Octavia Spencer) of horrendous behavior. Naomi Watts and Tim Roth play the parents.

“Them That Follow”

Thriller, R. The daughter (Kaitlyn Dever, “Booksmart”) of a snakehandl­ing pastor (Walter Goggins, “The Shield”) threatens to reveal a secret that will rip apart her community. With Olivia Colman of “Fleabag.”
