Boone, who was still intense about the tirade in between games of the doubleheader, said that he likes to think of his hitters as battling in the batters box.
“I always just want our guys all the time about controlling the strike zone and make it hard on the pitchers,” Boone explained. “That’s something those guys take a lot of pride in as a lineup. You may have your way with us, you may have success, but I want you to feel us. They take that on every game and usually serves them well.”

“He continues to show you why he’s become such a good pitcher. Didn’t have his good breaking ball today obviously, hung a couple in the first inning, still a factor for him but you saw a few more changeups,” Boone said. “The guy just continued to pitch. He does such a good job, for being such a young big leaguer, of not letting a result that just happened spill into the next pitch. He’s really good at controlling his emotions, locking in and just executing. Today his breaking ball hasn’t been as dominant as it has been for much of the year, and he’s still able to find his way and give us six really good innings.”
