Spoof seal at speech mocks Don

- BY DAVE GOLDINER

The eagle has defected!

A doctored U.S. presidential seal that included a Russian twin-headed eagle gripping a set of golf clubs was projected onto a wall behind President Trump as he gave a speech to a conservative group this week.

Trump was unaware of the spoof and “never saw the seal” as he addressed Turning Points USA at a teen summit Tuesday, according to White House spokesman Judd Deere. The real seal has a bald eagle clutching arrows in one set of talons and an olive branch in the other.

The altered presidential seal was posted online by an unknown wag looking to poke fun at Trump’s famously cozy relationship with Russia and his love of the links.

A Turning Points USA employee downloaded the gag seal without realizing it and it wound up displayed behind Trump as he spoke.

The low-level staffer was fired, said the Washington Post, which first reported the incident.

“I don’t think it was malicious intent, but nevertheless,” an official from the group told the paper.

The words “45 es un titere,” which is Spanish for “45 is a puppet,” also appeared in a banner above the faux eagle as Trump addressed the 1,500 people at the conservative group’s summit. Trump is the nation’s 45th president.

The phony banner appears in online searches along with the fake seal, suggesting the Turning Points USA employee also downloaded it by mistake.

The banner on the real seal says “E Pluribus Unum,” which is Latin for “out of many, one.”
