Don’s a con man: Blaz

-

Mayor de Blasio blasted President Trump on Sunday as being a race-baiting con man trying to distract American workers from real problems.

“This president is trying to distract people from the larger reality of this country so he uses the racist appeal, he uses a bait and switch,” de Blasio said on ABC’s “This Week With George Stephanopoulos.”

“I’ve watched him for a long time here in the context [of ] New York, there is a con man reality to Donald Trump. It’s a classic bait-and-switch maneuver every time,” he added.

Trump raised eyebrows Saturday by attacking Maryland Rep. Elijah Cummings, whose district includes most of Baltimore, for overseeing a “very dangerous & filthy place,” where “no human being would want to live.”

He also implied corruption was responsible for the problems in the predominantly African-American city, but offered no evidence that was the case.

The president’s tweets echoed sentiments and wording of a July 14 Twitter attack he launched against four congresswomen of color in which Trump suggested the women return to the “crime infested places from which they came,” despite the fact that the four people he targeted were raised in the U.S. and three of them were born here.

According to de Blasio,” the real issue” is that working people are frustrated because they’re “stuck economically” and Trump uses racial division as a red herring.

“The folks aren’t getting ahead, they think the next generation is actually going to do worse than they did,” he said.

The mayor is hoping to challenge Trump for the White House in 2020. Polling has showed the Manhattan-born, Massachusetts-bred politico between 0% and 1% since he announced his candidacy for the Democratic Party nomination in May.
