“Brian Banks”

Drama, PG-13. Aldis Hodge (“Undergroun­d”) stars as a football player drafted by the NFL whose career is cut short when he’s convicted of murder. He spends years trying to prove his innocence. Octavia Spencer also stars.

“Dora and the Lost City of Gold” Family, PG. Isabela Moner returns as the title character in the kids’ series, playing the teen who must save her parents. With Eva Longoria and Michael Peña.

“The Kitchen”

Thriller, R. After their husbands are imprisoned, four wives (Tiffany Haddish, Melissa McCarthy, Elisabeth Moss, Annabella Sciorra) from Hell’s Kitchen, N.Y., continue the families’ illegal business dealings.

“Blinded by the Light” Dramedy/musical, PG-13. In 1987 in Great Britain, a Muslim teenager discovers the music of Bruce Springstee­n, and it changes his life. Directed by Gurinder Chadha, who wrote and directed “Bend It Like Beckham.” “Good Boys”

Comedy, R. Three sixth-graders skip school, spy on a neighbor, steal her purse and try to go to a party. Starring Jacob Tremblay (“Room”), Retta and Will Forte.

“Where’d You Go, Bernadette?” Drama, PG-13. Richard Linklater directs Cate Blanchett as an overburden­ed mother who runs away from her family to undertake an adventure and rediscover herself. With Billy Crudup, Judy Greer and Kristen Wiig.

Aug. 23

“Angel Has Fallen” Action/drama, R. A secret service agent (Gerard Butler) is framed for attempting to kill the president (Morgan Freeman) and goes on the run to prove his innocence. Jada Pinkett Smith and Piper Perabo also star.

“Britanny Runs a Marathon” Comedy, R. A woman (Jillian Bell) gets her life in order by getting in shape, and magical things start to happen to her. Of course! With Michaela Watkins, Mikey Day and Lil Rel Howery.

“Ready or Not”

Horror, R. A woman (Samara Weaving) marries into a very wealthy, eccentric and spends her wedding night being hunted by her new in-laws. Yep. Adam Brody, Henry Czerny and Andie MacDowell also star.
