Kid Rock: Swift a lefty to further career
Don’t expect a duet from these two stars anytime soon.
President Trump-loving bad boy Kid Rock took aim at Taylor Swift on social media Friday by alleging the 29year-old pop star has adopted a more left-leaning ideology as a means to fasttrack her movie career.
“Taylor Swift wants to be a Democrat because she wants to be in movies … period,” the controversial musician posted in a vulgar Twitter rant. “And it looks like she will [perform fellatio on] Hollyweird to get there. Oldest move in the book. Good luck girl.”
The 48-year-old rocker, who was one of the first celebrity supporters to back then-presidential hopeful Donald Trump, was likely referring to a Vogue interview in which Swift explains her unwillingness to publicly endorse a contender in the previous presidential election.
“Unfortunately in the 2016 election you had a political opponent who was weaponizing the idea of the celebrity endorsement,” the “Shake It Off” singer said in the September issue. “He was going around saying, ‘I’m a man of the people. I’m for you. I care about you.’ I just knew I wasn’t going to help.”
She adds that she feared her endorsement for Hillary Clinton would be an albatross on the former senator.
“The summer before that election, all people were saying was ‘She’s calculated. She’s manipulative. She’s not what she seems. She’s a snake. She’s a liar.’ These are the same exact insults people were hurling at Hillary [Clinton],” said Swift. “Would I be an endorsement or would I be a liability? ‘Look, snakes of a feather flock together. Look, two lying women.’ The two nasty women. Literally millions of people were telling me to disappear. So I disappeared. In many senses.”
But prior to the 2018 midterms, Swift became a vociferous endorser for Democrats on all political levels.
Less than two hours after the Vogue interview went public, the tweet by Kid Rock — born Robert Ritchie — was liked more than 12,000 times and received nearly 4,000 retweets.
“Taylor only fits in with Nashville, where the liberals flock for cheaper place to live (and for nicer people than Cali.) 95 counties in (Tennessee) & only 3 voted blue in last big elections,” responded the Twitter user known as Zella. “She can go back to where she came from.”
But Swifties countered repeatedly — and swiftly.
“Amen, Bob. She should be a real American like you, growing up on a six-acre estate complete with tennis court and horse paddock, and then bravely adopting a faux “redneck s— kicker” cosplay person,” snarked comic actor Patton Oswalt. “God bless you, buddy ruff.”
Supermodel Chrissy Teigen was more succinct in expressing disgust at the initial tweet, with the terse statement: “You’re pathetic.”
The Daily News reached out to reps for Rock and Swift but has not heard back from them.
