Threatens AOC, hoards ammo: feds
has stoked intense controversy and calls for boycotts of fitness companies Equinox and SoulCycle, which are owned by a corporation chaired by the pro-Trump real estate mogul.
“The controversy makes Steve Ross hotter,” Trump told reporters at the White House before departing for New York. “He’ll figure that out in about a week. But he’s very happy…a lot of people are going.”
Trump described Ross as “a great friend.”
“We were competitors but friends in real estate in New York in the old days,” he said. “He’s probably more inclined to be a liberal if you want to know the truth, but he likes me, he respects me.”
Equinox and SoulCycle, meanwhile, sought to distance themselves from Ross, issuing a joint statement saying he “is a passive investor and is not involved in the management of either business.”
After Ross’ shindig, Trump headed for another fundraiser in nearby Water Mill.
The cost to attend the fund-raisers reportedly ran as high as $250,000 per person.
Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel said the back-toback fund-raisers went well.
“Thanks to the unhinged mob on the left, Trump raised $12M today, $2M more than originally expected,” McDaniel tweeted. “The support for our president is unprecedented and growing!”
After the fund-raisers, Trump jetted over to his private golf club in Bedminster, N.J., where he’s expected to spend the next 10 days for his summer vacation. An Ohio man was slammed with criminal charges Friday for threatening New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and stockpiling illegal ammunition in his home, according to prosecutors.
Feds raided Tim Ireland’s Toledo home Thursday and arrested him after learning he had posted on Facebook that Ocasio-Cortez “should be shot,” prosecutors said.
“My employer would load the gun for me,” he posted, according to court records.
During the raid, feds found several rounds of illegal ammunition in Ireland’s home, prosecutors said.
An FBI background check also revealed the 41-year-old had two outstanding warrants on marijuana possession in Georgia and skipping a court hearing in Florida related to a past criminal case, according to prosecutors.
Before Ireland’s arrest, a federal agent had called him and asked about the inflammatory Facebook post about Ocasio-Cortez (photo), according to records.
“Ireland stated he was very proud of that post he made,” the agent wrote in an affidavit. He also told the agent he “always carries his guns concealed” and that “everyone he knows has guns,” the affidavit said.
An Ocasio-Cortez spokeswoman declined to comment.
The Queens-Bronx congresswoman, 29, has faced a torrent of violent threats since she took office in January.
Speaking to the Daily News in March, Ocasio-Cortez pointed at right-wing media outlets for stoking hatred against her.
“It’s very clear that when right-wing media starts to heat up, that’s directly correlated to the amount of violent targeted threats we get,” she said at the time. “There’s clearly a correlation between the intensity of Fox News and Breitbart and all those folks and the amount of threats that we get.”
