Fans will flock to Peacock

NBC is finally showing its feathers.

The network announced a litany of new projects Tuesday as it unveiled the name for its streaming service set to launch in April: Peacock.

Among an extensive list of new shows is a “Saved By the Bell” revival, which will see the return of Mario Lopez and Elizabeth Berkley and explore “what happens when California Gov. Zack Morris (MarkPaul Gosselaar’s original role) gets into hot water for closing too many lowincome high schools and proposes the affected students be sent to the highest-performing schools in the state,” according to The Hollywood Reporter. It’s unclear if any of the other cast, including Gosselaar, will return.

A reboot of “Punky Brewster” starring Soleil Moon Frye is also in the works, as well as a revival of “Battlestar Galactica,” a Mike Schur comedy starring Ed Helms, and a slate of dramas starring Jamie Dornan, Alec Baldwin, Christian Slater, Alden Ehrenreich, Demi Moore and Emmy Rossum. Amber Ruffin will host a weekly late-night show, Jimmy Fallon launches an original talk show series, “Saturday Night Live” creator Lorne Michaels is behind a docuseries about “the famous personalit­ies in front of and behind the camera,” and a new “Real Housewives” spinoff joins the fray.

Other classics including “The Office,” “Parks and Recreation,” “30 Rock,” “Bates Motel,” “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” “Cheers,” “Downton Abbey,” “Everybody Loves Raymond,” “Frasier,” “Friday Night Lights,” “House,” “Keeping Up With the Kardashian­s,” “The King of Queens,” “Psych,” “Royal Pains,” “Saturday Night Live,” “Superstore,” “The Real Housewives,” “Top Chef,” and “Will & Grace” will also stream on Peacock.
