Mosley will try to get in work ahead of N.E. clash
Jets’ head coach Adam Gase gave another update on C.J. Mosley’s nagging groin injury during his press conference before Wednesday’s practice.
Gase said star linebacker Mosley would try to get in some individual work during Thursday’s practice ahead of their Monday night game against the New England Patriots.
The 27-year-old has been out with a groin injury since their Week 1 loss to the Buffalo Bills. Gase said getting Mosley back into their starting lineup would be as big of an impact “as getting a starting quarterback back” on the field.
Left tackle Kelvin Beachum has an ankle injury and is currently weekto-week, according to Gase. Tight end Chris Herndon has a hamstring injury and is also week-toweek. Linebacker Albert McClellan is currently in concussion protocol. Running back Trenton Cannon is day-to-day with an ankle injury.
Left guard Kelechi Osemele is still “in the process” with his shoulder injury, but the Daily News has confirmed an NFL Network report that Osemele will have shoulder surgery.
In other Jets news, quarterback Sam Darnold was named AFC offensive player of the week for his performance against the Dallas Cowboys. Darnold
threw for 338 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception in the Jets’ 24-22 win over the Cowboys.
Monday’s game against the Patriots will be Darnold’s second game back from a mono diagnosis that forced to him to miss three straight games.
Linebacker Frankie Luvu cleared waivers and will become a free agent after being cut by the Jets on Tuesday. Also, wide receiver Greg Dortch was signed by the Panthers off of the Jets’ practice squad. That makes two former players on the Jets’ practice squad being poached by other teams, including offensive lineman Calvin Anderson, who was signed by the Lions on October 1st.
