Guilty in stalk slay of ex

- BY LEONARD GREENE

A jury Monday found a Brooklyn man guilty of ambushing his ex-girlfriend, a city correction officer who was executed as she sat in her car in 2016 preparing to drive to her night shift on Rikers Island.

Prosecutors said Keon Richmond, 37, stalked his 25-year-old ex-girlfriend, Alastasia Bryan, for three days with a GPS tracking device before murdering her shortly after 9 p.m on Dec. 4, 2016, outside her mother’s Canarsie home.

Richmond was convicted of second-degree murder and two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and faces 40 years to life when he’s sentenced Dec. 4.

“This defendant meticulously planned this cowardly and coldblooded killing, tracking Officer Alastasia Bryan’s movements and executing her during an evening ambush,” said Brooklyn

District Attorney y Eric Gonzalez.

“Her life was taken far too soon, and hopefully, her heartbroken family, friends and fellow correction officers find some measure of justice in the jury’s verdict.”

Bryan was shot five times in the chest, hand and both arms as she sat in her car at the corner of Avenue L and E. 73rd St., in Bergen Beach, officials said.

According to evidence presented at the trial, Richmond pinpointed the victim’s movements using a GPS tracking device registered with his name and cell phone number that he placed on her car three days before the shooting.

After the ambush, Richmond fled the scene in a Hyundai Elantra, which had license plates registered to his new girlfriend, Shirley Mejia, 26, prosecutors said.

Two days after the murder, Mejia allegedly paid to have the car stored at a mechanic’s shop in New Jersey, and Richmond removed the plates.

Cell site records, surveillance video and other electronic data placed Richmond at the scene of the crime at the time of the murder, and captured his flight to New Jersey afterward.

Authorities said Richmond became enraged over losing a white BMW that Bryan leased for him in her name while they were dating between 2014 and 2015.

Bryan allowed him to continue to use the car after the breakup, but alerted the NYPD in August 2016 when Richmond began falling behind on payments.
