Six-week old twins were rushed to a New Jersey hospital with broken bones and bleeding on the brain after a visit to their father’s Bronx home, and now police are investigating whether the dad assaulted them, law enforcement sources said Friday.

The babies’ mother took them to Hackensack University Medical Center about 5 p.m. Thursday.

There doctors found the little boy and girl had fractured leg bones, police sources said. The infants also suffered head injuries that caused bleeding on the brain, police said.

The wounds were so severe that the boy is not expected to survive, sources said.

The mom, a New Jersey reisdent, told cops the children were hurt when they visited their father’s Grand Concourse apartment near E. 192nd St. in Fordham Manor. The NYPD is investigating.

Detectives questioned both parents Friday. No arrests have been made. The children’s grandmother told the Daily News she never saw any tension between the couple.

“I saw them two weeks ago and they were fine,” the grandmother said at her Bronx home. She said the couple met through work. “I can’t imagine (the father) doing this.”

A month before her due date, the infants’ mother posted an Instagram photo of her baby bump with a lengthy message about how excited she was to become a mom.

“To my son and daughter, I truly hope you were able to feel all of the love from everyone who came to celebrate you both coming into this world in a few weeks! I love you guys unconditionally already and I absolutely can’t wait until you make me an official mother. There will be lots of long days and nights, but we’ve got each other forever now!” she wrote on Aug. 5.

She also expressed her love for the newborns’ father.

“My love- what can I say? This ride has been anything but smooth but we’ve come this far and I couldn’t imagine it being with anyone other than you.
