KEVIN’S FRANKLY WEIRD WISHES
As Underwood, he sez, ‘Kill ’em with kindness’
Ho ho holy moly, that was uncomfortable.
Disgraced actor Kevin Spacey posted a bizarre video to YouTube on Christmas Eve in which he appears to channel his malevolent “House of Cards” role, murderous politician Frank Underwood — who was killed off in the wake of #MeToo allegations against the actor in 2017.
“You didn’t really think I was going to miss the opportunity to wish you a Merry Christmas, did you? It’s been a pretty good year,” Spacey says, breaking the fourth wall as his character did on the Netflix series. “And I’m grateful to have my health back. And in light of that, I’ve made some changes in my life, and I’d like to invite you to join me. As we walk into 2020, I want to cast my vote for … more good in this world.”
The 60-year-old “American Beauty” star added that he’s “dead serious.”
“It’s not that hard, trust me. The next time someone does something you don’t like, you can go on the attack. But you can also hold your fire and do the unexpected. You can … kill them with kindness.”
Spacey has been mostly mum since he was hit with sexual assault allegations in 2017.
He has posted on Twitter three times, including Tuesday’s video. In the first post, on Oct. 30, 2017, Spacey said he was “beyond horrified” to hear that actor Anthony Rapp, accused him of making sexual advances toward him in 1986 when Rapp was 14 and
Spacey was 26. He also used the platform to come out as gay.
In that tweet, Spacey claimed he didn’t remember the encounter and apologized for “what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behavior.”
The second video, posted on Christmas Eve last year, was also Spacey delivering a monologue as Frank Underwood.
Criminal charges of indecent assault in Nantucket, Mass., were dropped in July. He has been the subject of other sexual misconduct investigations in Los Angeles and England, with none resulting in charges.
