No bail in mob dad murder

- BY NOAH GOLDBERG

The Westchester County man who hired a Bloods gang member to whack his mobbed-up father in the Bronx will have to stay behind bars until his trial.

A Brooklyn federal judge denied Anthony Zottola Sr.’s $5 million bail request on Tuesday.

Zottola is accused of masterminding the rubout of his dad, Sylvester “Sally Daz” Zottola, at a McDonald’s drive-through on Oct. 4, 2018, as well as of the attempted murder of his older brother Salvatore months earlier.

“The charges and potential sanctions could not be more serious and disturbing, and coupled with the statutory presumption, compel the finding that Mr. Zottola is a flight risk and a danger to the community,” Judge Raymond Dearie wrote in his decision.

Zottola Sr.’s lawyers put together a bail package that would have kept the 41-yearold on house arrest with limited access to computers and phones.

Prosecutors say Zottola Sr. communicated with an alleged co-conspirator — reputed Bloods member Bushawn Shelton — by text message as far back as Christmas Day 2017.

He allegedly asked Shelton, 35, if it was possible to kill his father and brother in a single attack.

“Can we get a doubleheader at all,” asked Zottola Sr.

“My business is all messed up by both of them especially the MF captain [his father] the worst. Every day [it] gets harder for me.”

Further texts to Shelton referred to Sally Daz as the “actor” or the “star” and called the slaying “the final scene,” according to court documents.

Salvatore Zottola survived a July 11, 2018, hit outside his waterfront Bronx home — like his father, he was targeted over a business dispute with his greedy younger brother, court papers indicated.

The callous Anthony delivered a eulogy for his dad just four days after arranging for his murder.

Anthony, of Larchmont, could face the death penalty.
