SICKENING ASSAULT IN HOTEL BATHROOM

- BY MOLLY CRANE-NEWMAN AND LARRY MCSHANE

For Harvey Weinstein, a cramped Beverly Hills bathroom worked as well as any casting couch.

A sex-crazed Weinstein, after pinning an aspiring Hollywood actress/screenwriter against a hotel room sink while groping her breast and masturbating, offered a bizarre explanation for his vile behavior, according to the victim’s emotional testimony Wednesday at the Oscar winner’s rape and sexual abuse trial.

“How [else] am I going to know you can act?” Weinstein asked a distraught Lauren

Marie Young after the 22-year-old’s horrific first and last business meeting with the movie maker at the Montage seven years ago.

The producer, known for cinematic successes like “The English Patient” and “Reservoir Dogs,” faces life imprisonment if convicted of the top charges involving two New York women.

The soft-spoken Young, who appeared at times on the edge of tears, recounted how the hulking Hollywood hotshot initially invited her in February 2013 to discuss a script that she had written. Young testified that word of his interest came via former Miss New Mexico Claudia Salinas.

“I was excited. I got ready and I put on my best dress,” recalled Young, who had brushed shoulders with Weinstein a year earlier at an Oscar party. “I was excited to network and pitch my ideas.”

Young met the pair for a drink in the lobby near the bar at the Montage Hotel,
