“Birds of Prey”

Action/comic book, R. After the Joker and Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie, “I, Tonya”) break up, she joins forces with other outsiders (Rosie Perez, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Jurnee Smollett-Bell, to save a child. With Ewan McGregor, Chris Messina and Ali Wong.

“The Lodge”

Horror/suspense, PG-13. When a father leaves his fiancee (Riley Keough, “The Girlfriend Experience”) with his children (Jaeden Lieberher, “It”; and Lia McHugh) at an isolated cabin during a blizzard, a series of disturbing events is set in motion.

“Waiting for Anya”

Drama, PG-13. Based on the novel by Michael Morpurgo, a young shepherd (Noah Schnapp, “Stranger Things”) and a widow (Anjelica Huston) help Jewish kids cross Southern France into Spain to escape the horrors of World War II. With Jean Reno.

Feb. 14

“Blumhouse’s Fantasy Island” Horror, PG-13. This is not your grandmothe­r’s tranquil tropical resort: The popular ’70s TV show is turned into a suspensefu­l, violent adventure with each guest granted one fantasy that goes horribly awry. With Michael Peña, Lucy Hale, Maggie Q and Austin Stowell.

“Downhill”

Dramedy, R. A husband and wife (Will Ferrell, Julia Louis-Dreyfus) reevaluate their relationsh­ip and their existence after their family survives an avalanche. With Miranda Otto and Zach Wood (“Silicon Valley”).

“The Photograph” Drama/romance, PG-13. As a woman (Issa Rae, “Insecure”) starts to fall in love, she learns more about her mother’s love life. LaKeith Stanfield (“Get Out”) and Chelsea Peretti (“Brooklyn Nine-Nine”) also star.

“Sonic the Hedgehog” Action/comedy, PG. Another Sega video game is adapted for the big screen: The little blue alien (voiced by Ben Schwartz, “Parks and Recreation”) teams up with a human (James Marsden, “Hop”) to stop the evil Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey, who else?). Watch out, Baby Yoda! Tika Sumpter co-stars.

Feb. 21

“Emma”

Dramedy, PG-13. Anya Taylor-Joy (“The Witch,” “Split”) stars in this retelling of the Jane Austen classic about a young woman who has much to learn about friendship and love. With Bill Nighy and Rupert Graves.
