Man held in rape of B’klyn girl, 11

- With John Annese

A man was arrested early Sunday in the rape of an 11-year-old girl in Brooklyn, cops said.

Andre Clarke, 45, allegedly raped the girl three times since December in her Brownsville home, with the most recent attack about 9 a.m. Saturday, according to prosecutors.

A witness walked in on Clarke as he was raping the girl, Assistant District Attorney Tziyonah Langsam said at Clarke’s arraignment Sunday night.

The witness tried to call

911, but Clarke pulled the phone from her hand, Langsam said.

When the witness tripped and fell to the floor, Clarke grabbed her by the foot and started dragging her on the floor, all while the terrified young girl tried to help her, Langsam said.

The victim was taken to a local hospital in stable condition. Clarke knows the victim but their relationship was not revealed to protect the girl’s identity, sources said.

Cops released a photo of him a short time later and asked the public’s help tracking him down. Clarke was found early Sunday at a hotel in Queens, according to police.

Clarke tried to smear the youngster’s character, Langsam said.

“You would never know she’s 11years-old by the things she knows,” he told a detective, the prosecutor recounted. “And now everyone thinks (I’m) a rapist because it was on the news and everyone saw it.”

Clarke was charged with rape, sexual abuse and acting in a manner injurious to a child.

The suspect, who has a lengthy rap sheet dating to 1991 including for robbery, menacing, harassment and assault, was most recently picked up after he allegedly beat his ex-girlfriend in December 2018, violating an order of protection, sources said. He was put on probation until 2022, according to police.

Clarke’s lawyer, Alexandra Tawfik from Brooklyn Defenders Services asked for supervised release, saying he surrendered himself and he’s never missed a court date.

“These are just allegations at this time,” she said.

Brooklyn Criminal Court Judge Adam Perlmutter set his bail at $250,000

Because of his record and the allegation he violated a judge’s order, “there are no reasonable accommodations or factors that would assure his return to court,” the judge said.
