A Good Samaritan who stopped to aid victims in a Long Island crash early Monday was fatally struck by another vehicle as she tried to help, police said.

The chaos began when a 2005 Toyota was rearended by a 2002 Toyota on Suffolk Ave. near Casement Ave. in Islandia about 5:40 a.m., Suffolk County police said.

Jennifer Burgess, 36, stopped to help the motorists involved.

When two cars hit the newer-model Toyota, Burgess stepped into traffic to avoid that collision and wound up being hit by a 2018 Honda, police said.

Burgess, who lived in East Setauket, was taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore, where she died.

The Honda’s driver, Chris Cardinale, 59, of St. James, was not hurt. His car was impounded for a safety check, but no charges were filed.

A woman fatally stabbed a man in their Upper West Side apartment Monday night — slashing the victim with nearly a dozen blows, police said.

The violence erupted just after 9 p.m. in a second-floor apartment on Amsterdam Ave. between 90th and 91st Sts., authorities said.

According to cops, the 44-year-old woman repeatedly stabbed the 48-year-old victim in the chest during the bloody confrontation.

“He was stabbed 11 times,” a police source said.

Building super Rafael Fermin said the victim had a troubled history, and “sometimes laid out in front of the building” after drinking. The woman, he said, “was always dressed like she went to work.”

“Someone was screaming for help,” Fermin said of the mayhem. “I ran down and over to the apartment. He was on the floor bleeding. I couldn’t tell how many times he was stabbed. A [neighbor] woman was trying to help him, but it didn’t look good.”

Medics took the man to St. Luke’s Hospital, but he couldn’t be saved.

The woman taken into custody, and the knife was recovered. Charges were not immediately released.
