Vic family is ‘strong & in good spirits’

- BY JOHN ANNESE

The wife of the state’s second positive coronavirus patient says her family’s life has turned to “pandemonium all around us,” though she believes her husband is tenacious enough to make a full recovery.

Adina Lewis Garbuz, wife and law partner of Lawrence Garbuz, offered an update on her husband’s condition on her Facebook page. The couple lives in New Rochelle, Westchester County, and work in Midtown.

“When I was first informed of the positive result, I and my entire family immediately provided any and all information to several Departments of Health well into the wee hours of the night in hopes of letting this all be contained as quickly as possible for all of us,” she wrote.

She contacted everyone in her law firm, who are all quarantined and are working from home.

She has also tested positive for the virus, as has their 20-year-old son and 14-yearold daughter, Gov. Cuomo announced Wednesday.

“We would have preferred this all remain private, but since it is no longer, I wanted to at least share some truths and allay people’s fears,” she wrote. “Other than Lawrence, no one else in my family has been sick other than a slight cough.”

Her husband remains in critical condition, she said. “I and my family remain very hopeful of his full recovery,” she wrote.

Lawrence Garbuz is at the epicenter of a cluster of coronavirus patients who attend the Young Israel of New Rochelle synagogue— including the congregation’s leader, Rabbi Reuven Fink.

Adina Lewis Garbuz thanked the members of their community who “are living this surreal life with us.”

“When I first heard that Lawrence was positive, I immediately recognized there was going to be pandemonium all around us,” she wrote. “We shuttered the windows, turned off the internet and together stayed strong and in good spirits.”
