Queens thief invades Popeyes, gets no cash, grabs 10 uniforms
A 911 call led to the discovery of human remains in the backyard of a home on Long Island, according to Suffolk County police.
Cops got a call about 5:25 p.m. on Sunday, after someone dialed authorities to report finding skeletal remains at the home on Jay Road in Centereach.
No details about the remains have been released, nor have authorities revealed how the remains were discovered or who reported them.
It is also unclear how long the remains have been at the location.
The Suffolk County medical examiner’s office is expected to examine the remains. Police are also asking anyone with information to call the homicide squad at (631) 852-6392.
All calls are kept confidential.
A crook smashed his way through the glass door of a Queens chicken joint only to find the cash registers were empty, cops said.
Surveillance video shows the hooded thief use his heel to kick through the front door of a Popeyes on Liberty Ave. near Cross Bay Blvd. in Ozone Park about 4 a.m on Friday, according to police.
The robber is then seen in the video breaking into two cash registers, which turned out to be empty, authorities said. The thief then stole 10 Popeyes uniforms from a back room and fled the fast-food restaurant.
Cops released the video Sunday night in hopes of identifying the crook. Authorities described the suspect as heavyset with a beard and mustache, last seen wearing a brown hooded jacket, gray sweatpants and white sneakers.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS.
