PAID IN BULLETS Vic came to collect debt & is killed; 3 siblings charged
A 23-year-old man showed up expecting to finally get paid back for a small loan — only to be slain by a trio of Bronx siblings, cops said Wednesday.
Matthew Jones, 23, was lured from his Washington Heights home to meet Kaylene Rodriguez and her brother, Ryan Padin, in the Bronx about 11:30 p.m. Jan. 19, according to police.
One of the siblings owed Jones less than $1,000 and they promised to finally pay him back during the meetup, sources said.
But when Jones showed up on Creston Ave. near E. 182nd St. in Fordham Heights he got into a quarrel with the brother and sister. As they fought, another brother, Christopher Padin, sitting on a nearby stoop, pulled out a gun and blasted Jones in the head and torso, prosecutors charge.
Video recovered by cops shows Ryan Padin stepping away as his brother opens fire on the victim, according to cops. The heartless shooter then handed off the gun to his sister, who ran off with according to the sources.
Rodriguez, 26, was arrested Tuesday for her role in the slaying, cops said.
“It was a definite setup,” a police source said.
Medics rushed Jones to St. Barnabas Hospital but he it, could not be saved.
Ryan Padin, 25, who lives about a mile from the crime scene, was busted Feb. 13. His brother Christopher Padin, who lives about 2 miles from the scene of the slaying, was nabbed Jan. 23, four days after the killing.
All three siblings are charged with murder, manslaughter and weapon possession.
Ryan and Christopher were ordered held without bail after their arraignments. Christopher has seven prior arrests on charges including gun possession, assault and forcible touching. Ryan has no arrests in New York, officials said.
An arraignment for Rodriguez, who was previously arrested for felony assault in 2015 and 2016 and lives in the Morrisania section of the Bronx, was pending Wednesday.
