5 NFL games to see again

Advice to pass time while locked inside

- BY CHARLES MCDONALD

Hey you! Yes, you!

I know you aren’t doing a damn thing right now — none of us are. We’re all twiddling our thumbs while we wait for it to be safe to go outside

Luckily, the NFL gave everyone free access to their NFL Game Pass service until May 31 for North American users and until July 31 for everyone else. NFL Game Pass has every game going back to the 2009 season for you to watch.

NFL Game Pass not only has the original broadcast, they also post condensed versions of the games that take anywhere from 35-50 minutes to watch and the coaches tape that NFL teams receive following the games.

Whether you’re just looking to pass the time with a couple games or want to break down the game film like a pro, here are five games to watch that will keep you entertained — at least for a little while.

Chiefs vs. Rams, 2018, Week 11

The Chiefs matchup against the Rams from two seasons ago is one of the best

Monday Night Football games in the history of the program. This game had everything. Offensive touchdowns, defensive touchdowns, two of the best playcallers in the league and a field littered with elite talent.

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who was in his first season as a starter, threw six touchdowns to three interceptions in a wild 5451 loss.

Broncos vs. Cowboys, 2013, Week 5

The 2013 duel between Peyton Manning and Tony Romo was one of the most entertaining regular season games of all time. Manning and Romo combined for nine passing touchdowns and 920 passing yards on their way to a 51-48 shootout.

Both quarterbacks were outstanding, but Romo had a truly epic performance. Romo threw for 506 yards, five touchdowns, and an interception on just 36 attempts. At the time, Romo was blamed for the loss because his interception came with two minutes left in the game.

If you go and watch for yourself, you can see exactly how lazy that analysis was.

Eagles vs. Washington, 2010, Week 10

Michael Vick’s breakout game with the Eagles was a moment to remember forever.

On the first play of the Eagles Week 10 game against Washington, Vick launched an 88-yard touchdown pass to DeSean Jackson and the rout was immediately on. Vick threw four touchdowns, ran two more in, and led the Eagles to a 59-28 win on primetime.

If you do end up watching this game, pay attention to Washington defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth . Haynesworth was a $100 million free agent that didn’t work out for Washington and it’s hilarious to watch him flounder around in this game.

Panthers vs. Saints, 2015, Week 13

At this point in the 2015 season, the Cam Newton hysteria was peaking. He was single-handedly leading the Panthers to the promised land without an all-star group of supporting talent (Jerricho Cotchery started in the Super Bowl!).

Newton marched the Panthers into the Superdome, albeit against a 4-7 Saints team, and outdueled Drew Brees for a last second, 41-38 victory. Newton threw for 331 yards and five touchdowns while chipping in 49 extra yards on the ground.

That game showed the 2015

Panthers weren’t that talented on offense outside of tight end Greg Olsen, yet Newton just kept leading them to victories.

Packers vs. Bears, 2011, Week 16

In case you’ve forgotten how exactly good Aaron Rodgers was at his peak, just go to any game from the 2011 season.

Rodgers threw 45 touchdowns compared to just six interceptions that season. According to adjusted yards per attempt, a metric that weighs touchdowns and interceptions, his most efficient game that season was against the Chicago Bears in Week 16.

On just 29 passing attempts, Rodgers threw for 283 yards, five touchdowns, and zero interceptions. Jordy Nelson and James Jones each caught two touchdowns with tight end Jermichael Finley catching the fifth.

Most importantly, Josh McCown is starting for the Bears in this game. Throwing to former Cowboys receiver Roy Williams. This game is a time capsule for football fans.
