Eli says ‘thank you’ to NY Presbyterian healthcare workers
Eli Manning wasn’t the NFL’s co-Man of the Year in 2016 for nothing.
On Wednesday morning, Manning recorded a video thanking all of the health care workers at New York-Presbyterian Hospital for their work on the front lines of the coronavirus fight.
“Hi, Eli Manning here,” the two-time Super Bowl MVP began. “And I just wanted to give a special call out to all the caregivers and really the entire health care team at New York Presbyterian hospital. Thank you so much for everything you’re doing. We read about it every day, and your selflessness, your determination, your willingness to act and to go above and beyond was expected — and honestly maybe was what was even called for — to help out New York and so many people.”
Manning’s message went out at the end of NewYorkPresbyterian Executive Vice President and COO Dr. Laura Forese’s daily video briefing for the hospital system’s 47,000plus employees.
The retired quarterback sported a beard, and his kids could be heard in the background as he spoke, two trademark signs of a parent who is socially distancing and staying home. But Manning still wanted to take time to lift the spirits of those working day and night on behalf of the entire New York area, the country and the world.
“When everybody else in the world is being asked to stay at home and sit back and do nothing, you’ve been asked to step up, and you’re doing that in every way,” Manning added. “So we cannot thank you enough, and (we) just want you to know how much we all appreciate what you’re doing to the benefit of so many others. So please stay safe, stay healthy, and God bless.”
