SMALL GAME HUNTING

Stern mocks Trump’s ‘genius’ son as shock jock escalates prez feud

- BY BRIAN NIEMIETZ

Famed shock jock and animal lover Howard Stern went small-game hunting Tuesday, ratcheting up his attacks on the Trump clan by mocking the president’s firstborn son as a “genius.”

Stern — who last week characterized the president as a wannabe celebrity who secretly hates his own followers — sarcastically responded Tuesday to criticism from the president’s namesake.

“I can’t argue with him, that kid is such a success,” Stern joked. “He is such a wit, he is such a genius. He would have made a fortune if he wasn’t under his father’s thumb. Game over. You can’t argue with a genius like that.”

Trump Jr. compared Stern to Hillary Clinton during a Thursday visit to SiriusXM’s “Jim and Sam Show,” where he recalled the president’s 2016 Democratic rival calling the Republican nominee’s followers “deplorables.”

“When he shuts you down, that’s it,” Stern mocked. “What an accomplished young man.”

Stern, an animals-rights activist whose wife Beth Stern is the spokeswoman for the North Shore Animal League, also mocked the president’s “macho” 42-yearold son for shooting big game during trophy hunts.

“You can’t argue with that kind of bravery,” Stern said. “Even the guys in Afghanistan right now are going ‘Jesus Christ, what a kid.’ ”

Trump Jr. and his brother Eric are avid hunters, though that isn’t an interest the president shares. In February, Trump Jr. and Safari Club International hosted an auction giving bidders the opportunity to stay on a yacht and join the president’s eldest son in hunting black-tailed deer and sea ducks in Alaska. The winning bid was $150,000, according to the auction site.

Other prizes reportedly included an elephant hunting trip to Namibia and a vacation in Zimbabwe where buffalo, giraffe and wildebeest would be killed.

Actress Mia Farrow tweeted a photo of Trump Jr. and his brother holding the corpse of a dead big cat and asked “What went so wrong with Trump sons that they could kill this beautiful creature?”

Stern, who says he largely identifies as a Republican and ran for governor as a pro death-penalty candidate in 1994, has taken aim at President Trump on numerous occasions during the pandemic.

Last month, Stern urged Trump fanatics to “all take disinfectant and all drop dead” after the president held a press conference where he suggested disinfectants might cure COVID-19. Trump later said he was being sarcastic.

The 66-year-old radio host said he hopes Trump Jr.’s comments impressed the president, who has uncharacteristically not addressed any of Stern’s insults in recent weeks.

“I only pray to God that his comments will impress his father and his father will give him love … he’ll get some good attention,” Stern said.

With his co-host Robin Quivers egging him on, Stern said it was a “no win” when you argue against the “wit and wisdom” of Trump Jr. He further congratulated Trump Jr. for his position as executive vice president of the Trump Organization.

“Where I came from, no one is expected to be successful or anything, but the way this kid has risen in the business world and just taken it by storm … to be criticized by him is damaging,” Stern wisecracked. “I would list all of Junior’s accomplishments right now, but I only have a three-hour show.”

Trump Jr. responded to Stern’s mockery by posting a tweet Tuesday claiming the broadcasting giant’s affiliation with the “Main Stream Media” has made him less popular with working-class people.
