Man knifed in mouth is killed: cops

- BY WES PARNELL AND THOMAS TRACY

A man died after he was stabbed in the mouth during a bloody Brooklyn clash, police said Friday.

The 29-year-old victim was arguing with another man near the corner of Newport St. and Van Sinderen Ave. in Brownsville just before midnight Thursday when he was knifed in the face and mouth, witnesses told police.

Before first responders arrived, someone took the wounded victim to Brookdale Hospital, where he eventually died.

Cops at the scene found signs of a violent struggle, including discarded paper plates and a hat.

No arrests have been made. The 29year-old victim was the fourth person to be knifed to death in the city within a four-hour stretch Thursday night.

Just before 8 p.m., a 32year-old man was stabbed to death on Tinton Ave. near E. 161st St. in the Bronx. A woman was brought in for questioning, but not charged, police sources said.

Roderick Claire, 65, who lives in the Bronx apartment, said the murder was a domestic dispute and the victim had repeatedly beaten the woman in the past.

The woman, who police sources identify as a witness to the killing, is pregnant with the victim’s child, Claire said.

“She’s pregnant, alone, and now the father is dead,” Claire said. “I’m a Vietnam vet, I’ve seen people die, but this really has me f——- up.”

About 40 minutes later, two men were stabbed to death in the third-floor hallway of the Frederick Douglass Houses on the Upper West Side, police said.

One 36-year-old victim died at the scene. Medics took the other, an unidentified younger man possibly in his teens, to Mount Sinai Morningside, but he couldn’t be saved.

No arrests have been made in either case.
