Police have arrested the man they believe shot a Bronx man to death in the lobby of his building in February, cops said Thursday.

Lyndon Montague, 54, was nabbed in Manhattan on Wednesday and charged with murder in the Feb. 3 shooting death of 43-year-old Shameek Lilly.

Police said Lilly, who had prior drug arrests, was shot in the chest during a confrontation in the lobby of his building on White Plains Road near E. 239th St. in Wakefield.

Montague, who lives two blocks away, was also charged with manslaughter and possession of a loaded gun. He has sealed arrests on his record.

Cops believe the killing may have been drug related.

The victim’s 89-year-old mother previously told reporters he had completed job training and was trying to get his life together.

She told the Daily News she learned only learned about his arrest Thursday morning.

“That’s my youngest. He went to school, he graduated,” a devastated Joyce Montague said. “He got a baseball scholarship to go to Florida.”

Montague eventually moved back to New York and got a job at Metropolitan Hospital, where he worked for almost seven years before his life started going south, his mother said.

“I don’t know what he did, but he got into drugs,” Joyce Montague said.

She said she hadn’t lived with Lyndon for 2 years and was staying with her daughter on Long Island while recuperating from a leg injury. “I didn’t know anything about him for two years,” she said.

“He was a good person,” she added. “He’s still my son.”

Joyce Montague said relatives in Jamaica even heard the news, and have been calling about her son.

She didn’t know who Shameek Lilly was, but expressed her sorrow over his death.

“All I can say is, I am sorry that my son did that to you, but I know nothing about nothing or who is who,” she said.
