Heisman hopeful threatens to boycott Oklahoma State

- BY CHARLES MCDONALD

Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy dropped a bomb on his own program when a photo of him wearing a One America News Network shirt surfaced on Twitter.

Running back Chuba Hubbard, who very well might be the best running back in the nation, rushing for 2094 yards and 21 touchdowns last season, responded to Gundy’s picture with the threat of a boycott.

“I will not stand for this.” Hubbard posted on his Twitter account. “This is completely insensitive to everything going on in society, and it’s unacceptable. I will not be doing anything with Oklahoma State until things CHANGE.”

One America News Network is an outlet that has repeatedly drawn praise from President Trump and Gundy is recently on record saying he was a fan of its news coverage. “It was so refreshing,” Gundy said in an April interview with Yahoo! “They just report the news. There’s no commentary. There’s no opinions. There’s no left. There’s no right.”

Clearly, Hubbard and fellow Oklahoma State players don’t feel that way. Current and former Oklahoma State players took to Twitter to voice their disdain for Gundy’s actions. Baltimore Ravens running back Justice Hill, who played for Gundy from 2016-2018, posted, “OSU Athletics and University need major change. 100% support brotha” on his Twitter account.

A.J. Green III, currently a defensive back for the Cleveland Browns, tweeted that he can’t stay silent anymore and to “call a spade a spade.”

Senior offensive tackle Teven Jenkins also agreed with Hubbard’s point, posting “As an O-line we stand and support Chuba” on his Twitter account.

A one player posted an issue that went beyond Gundy’s appearance in the One America News Network shirt. Former Oklahoma State linebacker Patrick Macon said that he was threatened to get sent “back to the hood numerous time(s).”
