T.R. not racist

-

Yorktown Heights, N.Y.: When Teddy Roosevelt led the charge up San Juan Hill, it was the all-black Buffalo Soldiers of the 10th Cavalry who turned the tide and won the day. Roosevelt revered this unit. When he agreed to visit John Muir in Yosemite Park in 1903, he specifically asked for the Buffalo Soldiers to be his honor guard and escort into the Valley. These are not the actions of a racist.
