Fox fires Henry after sex probe
Sex misconduct accusations have ended another Fox News personality’s career.
Veteran Fox broadcaster Ed Henry was fired after a misconduct probe, said a memo sent to the conservative media company’s staff Wednesday.
Fox enlisted an outside law firm to investigate after it received last Thursday a “sexual misconduct in the workplace” complaint about Henry from a former employee, wrote network CEO Suzanne Scott and president Jay Wallace in an internal message.
“Ed was suspended the same day and removed from his on-air responsibilities pending investigation,” read the memo obtained by the Daily News. “Based on investigative findings, Ed has been terminated.”
Henry, 48, was the co-host of the “America’s Newsroom” morning show with Sandra Smith. The network will use rotating anchors to fill his spot until a permanent replacement is found.
Smith addressed Henry’s firing during Wednesday’s edition of the show.
She mentioned the memo from Scott and Wallace, saying they were trying to “bring full transparency” to the matter. Fox “will continue to strive to maintain a safe and inclusive workplace for all employees,” Smith said.
Henry (inset) had been with the network since 2011, and was Fox News’ chief White House correspondent. He has not publicly addressed his ouster. According to sources at NPR — where Henry’s wife is chief Washington editor — Henry “repeatedly pursued younger female staffers during his time at Fox.” In May 2016, Henry was taken off the Hillary Clinton campaign beat after tabloids reported his affair with a Las Vegas hospitality worker. Then Fox News chief Roger Ailes allegedly felt Henry’s indiscretion compromised his ability to report on the Democratic nominee, whose husband, the former president, has been the subject of sexual misconduct claims.
