said. “New York is the least incarcerative and safest large state in the nation and the governor closed more prisons than any governor in state history, overseeing an unprecedented 37% decline in the incarcerated population.”

As the pandemic peaked in April, his top aide Melissa DeRosa said the change would not take effect for 90 days and would not necessarily “translate into more people” behind bars.

New York City has reported the deaths of three incarcerated individuals and 11 corrections staffers due to COVID-19, while 312 inmates and 1,418 corrections staffers have tested positive.

A man was pulled off a flight to Florida at LaGuardia Airport on Friday for not wearing a mask, video posted on Twitter shows.

The unidentified passenger was already seated on a Spirit Airlines plane preparing to take off to Fort Lauderdale on Friday morning when he refused to put on a face covering.

Flight attendants said he was being disruptive and called Port Authority police.

A video posted on Twitter shows Port Authority police officers talking to the passenger about not wearing a face mask.

“The whole plane is a witness that I didn’t do anything,” the man told the officer. “I didn’t get in nobody’s face.”

The man claimed that he was on his way to Florida to visit his father who had a stroke.

Others on the flight demanded the man stay.

“He paid for the flight,” one person in the back is heard saying. “This is America. Let this man fly. Why can’t he go home?”

A second video shows the man off the plane and surrounded by cops as he stood in the boarding area.

The passenger ultimately “chose to deplane on his own instead of risking legal consequences,” the airline said.

“Spirit will always err on the side of caution when it comes to the health and safety of our guests,” the airline said in a statement. “Wearing a face covering is simple, it’s easy.”
