You get out of our Facebook, ‘faker’ Roger

- BY CHRIS SOMMERFELDT

Roger Stone can’t catch a break.

The beleaguered Republican trickster, who’s supposed to begin his prison sentence next week, was thrown in social media jail Wednesday, as both Facebook and Instagram removed his accounts over allegations he had violated policies against “inauthentic behavior.”

Nathaniel Gleicher, Facebook’s head of security policy, said Stone (inset) worked with members of the farright Proud Boys group to create an army of fake accounts on both platforms that put out torrents of posts aimed at making their own content “appear more popular than it is.”

Proud Boys was banned from Facebook and Instagram in 2018 for violating policies against hate speech, and Gleicher said the latest violation added another justification for ousting the farright organization.

Stone, a longtime political confidant to President Trump criminally convicted as part of special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation, has extensive ties to the Proud Boys group, and many of its polo shirt-clad members attended his trial in Washington last year.

Stone has long also been banned from Twitter.

An attorney for Stone, 67, did not return a request for comment.

The social media scrubbing comes ahead of Stone’s expected Tuesday surrender to prison in Georgia.

He’s set to serve 40 months behind bars for lying under oath about his contacts with WikiLeaks during the 2016 campaign, threatening a witness in Mueller’s investigation and obstructing congressional inquiries into Russia’s interference in the 2016 election.
