Entertainment mogul Simon Cowell had a metal rod placed in his back during a six-hour surgery after he suffered an injury over the weekend when he fell off an electric bike, a source confirmed to the Daily News.

Cowell (inset) underwent multiple procedures and fusions during the operation overnight Saturday and is now recovering in the hospital, the source said Sunday. He is expected to remain in the hospital for several days.

The “America’s Got Talent” star, 60, suffered a broken back in multiple places Saturday while testing out the bike outside his home in Malibu, Calif.

His doctors considered the injury to be bad, but believe Cowell was very lucky, the source said.

A rep for the British-born Cowell confirmed in a statement that the star was hospitalized after the accident and, following the operation, is “under observation and is doing fine .”

On Sunday, the source told the Daily News that Cowell was with his 6-year-old son, Eric, and his brother, Adam, in the courtyard of his home when the bike accident occurred.

Cowell is the creator of “America’s Got Talent” and serves as a judge on the longrunning reality competition series. The show is part of the larger “Got Talent” franchise created by Cowell, who was also a judge on “Britain’s Got Talent.”

He was previously one of the original judges on the wildly popular “American Idol,” and later served the same role on “The X Factor,” among other popular competition shows.

One Direction and Fifth Harmony are among the major musical acts who got their starts under Cowell’s Syco Records label.
