Streep nephew charged in Hamptons
IMeryl Streep’s nephew was charged with assault in a road rage incident in the Hamptons, police said.
Charles Harrison Streep, 31, was busted Thursday after getting into a fight with another driver in a parking lot, the East Hampton Village Police Department said in a press release.
Streep, who lives in New York City, was charged with two felonies, second-degree assault and second-degree strangulation, police said.
He was driving his Audi convertible out of the Chase Bank parking lot on Main Street near
Hunting Lane on Monday around 11:30 a.m., when the 18-year-old victim pulled into the lot in a Ford sedan, authorities said, according to The Independent .
It isn’t clear what sparked a confrontation between the two men, but authorities received 911 calls about a possible fight, cops said. When police arrived, Streep was gone and the victim refused medical attention.
After returning home, the victim called for medical assistance and was taken to Stony Brook Southampton Hospital. He was then airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital to undergo surgery, police told The Independent.
Streep was arrested three days after the alleged assault, and later released on $5,000 bail, police said.
“I never comment on pending litigation,” his attorney, Stephen Grossman, told the Daily News on Friday.
Representatives for Streep’s aunt did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
