Dad shot dead in Staten Island road rage

A father of two was shot dead in an apparent road rage attack on Staten Island Tuesday morning, in the same neighborhood where another man was fatally shot just hours before, police said.

Sean Dallas, 29, was shot in the chest and right arm during a confrontation at 8:45 a.m. on Grandview Ave. and Arlington Place in Mariners Harbor. Medics took him to Richmond University Medical Center, but he couldn’t be saved.

Dallas, who lives in a shelter in Brooklyn, came to Staten Island to pick up his two young boys, and was a regular fixture in the area, his neighbors said.

On Tuesday morning, a man in a blue car cut him off on the Staten Island Expressway, then followed him to his children’s home, said neighbors.

“This man followed him to our neighborhood, made a U-turn, and had a verbal argument and then shot him twice,” said Kergen Merrill, a friend of Dallas who witnessed the killing. “He died in my friend’s arms.”

Added Merrill: “I was right next to him when he died and he was a good guy and it’s nothing gang-related.”

Dallas had recently come upon hard times. His children and girlfriend were staying with family on Staten Island while he stayed at a Brooklyn shelter.

“He was literally a family man that had a road rage accident happen to him,” Merrill said. “He was always with his kids, and doing things with his kids. Every picture you see he’s smiling.”

Dallas’ children were also hospitalized, neighbors said.

“His kids were literally coming out of the house when their father was shot,” said neighbor Kiowau Dimarco.

The children were shaking as they saw their dad’s body on the ground, said another neighbor who identified himself as Raisin.

“I’ve seen him around but you don’t see him every day. He’s not from out here, he don’t live here but you’d recognize his face because he’d come to pick up and drop off his kids all the time,” Raisin said. “He kept to himself. He doesn’t really get mixed up with anyone around here.”

Police sources confirmed cops were looking at road rage as a motive. Cops have not made any arrests.

“I’m going to have to clean my friend’s blood off the street,” Merrill said. “This is hard.”

The shooting happened less than half a mile from where Prince Edmonds, identified by police as a reputed Blood gangs member, was killed Monday afternoon.

Edmonds, 21, was shot several times on Richmond Terrace near Harbor Road around 1 p.m. Medics took him to Richmond University

Medical Center but he couldn’t be saved.

A second 22-year-old victim walked into the same hospital with a bullet wound to his left arm, cops said.

In 2018, Edmonds ran over and killed ex- con Robert Craigwell during a brawl and car chase outside Staten Island Criminal Court.

Edmonds, who argued self-defense, was initially charged with murder in 26year-old Craigwell’s death, but pleaded guilty last year to a lesser charge of leaving the scene of an accident. He was released on parole in November.

Hours after Dallas’ death, a 34-year-old man was shot in the chest just after 5 p.m. on Jersey St. and Crescent Ave. in New Brighton — about five miles from the neighborhood where Dallas and Edmonds were killed.

Medics took the wounded victim to Richmond University Medical Center where he was in critical condition.
