Kin struggle after dad is shot dead

- BY KERRY BURKE AND THOMAS TRACY

The family of a devoted Bronx dad executed outside a bodega was struggling to come to grips with his brutal death Saturday — and wondered what the future would hold now that their “heart” had been ripped away from them.

Felix Medina, 33, was gunned down during an argument with another man outside the La Victoria Grocery on E. 141st. St. and Cypress Ave. in Mott Haven around 4 p.m. Thursday.

The coldblooded gunman shot Medina in the head — then kept firing after the Bronx ffatherther fell to make sure he was dead, horrified witnesses told police.

“He was our heart,” said Felix Medina’s brother, whose name is also Felix Medina. “Everyone loved my brother. I don’t know why anyone would do this to him in that way.”

No arrests have been made, and police have been tightlipped on the details, relatives said.

“Someone started shooting and my brother got hit. That’s all we really know,” Medina’s brother said. “The police aren’t saying anything at all. It’s all still under investigation.”

Witnesses to the bloodshed said the killer reached into his book bag as Medina turned his head. A second later, the suspect pulled out a gun and started blasting.

“It was execution-style. He shot him in the back of the head and kept shooting to finish him,” the witness said.

The gunman coldly walked off as onlookers called police.

“I was the first one to run up and try to help, but it looked like he was already gone,” the witness said.

When cops arrived, they found Medina lying on his side with multiple gunshot wounds. Medics rushed him to Lincoln Medical Center where he died.

Medina said his brother worked hard to take care of his 10-year-old son, who will now grow up without a father.
