Simpson, Ronny
Ronny Simpson, from Kahnawake, Quebec, passed away on September 17, 2020, at the age of 78 years, in Anderson, South Carolina. Beloved husband to Gloria Simpson and father to Audra and Cori Simpson. He is sur vived by his dear sister Annie (Leroy Lazare), his stepfather Eddie Diabo, and many nieces and nephews in Kahnawake, Kanehsatake, and Akwesasne. He is predeceased by his mother Margaret K. Phillips and his father Sam Simpson, as well as his sisters Marilyn Tremblay and Freda Herne. A f ormer student of Kateri School and Spanish Indian Residential School, he was a Marine Corps veteran who ser ved from 1961-67. He worked i n New York City i n Local 32BJ as a window cleaner for many years thereafter. A l ong time resident of Park Slope, Brooklyn, upon retiring, he split his residence between Kahnawake and Seneca, S.C. and devoted himself to crosswords, to the care of his sweet pets, to league bowling and when he could no l onger do that, to cheering for his wife on the lanes. He delighted in the achievements of his daughters, his family, and his friends. He joins his best friend, Russell McComber, in the afterlife and in laughter. The family offers their gratitude to Drs. N. Abramovitch, J. Meehan and S. Hand, as well as the i nnumerable nurses and physical therapists that worked to keep him i n health, comfor t, and dignity throughout his l ong and courageous battle with CHF. Thanks are extended also to the Veterans Association of Anderson and Pickens County for their assistance with his health benefits.
