SUBWAY SLAY HUNT
Seek susp seen on vid in downtown stab
Cops released video Sunday of the suspect wanted for a fatal stabbing in a lower Manhattan subway station.
The victim got into an argument on the J/Z platform in the Chambers
St. station underneath the David Dinkins Manhattan Municipal Building just before 3 p.m. Saturday, according to police.
As they fought, the killer pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim in both legs before fleeing, police said.
First responders rushed the wounded man to New York Presbyterian Hospital Lower Manhattan, where he later died. Cops, who believe the victim was in his 20s, were working to identify him.
Surveillance video released by cops Sunday shows the suspect, his face covered with a surgical mask, running down the platform looking over his shoulder, then slowing to a walk as he continues to turn his head to look behind him.
Cops are asking the public’s help identifying the suspect and tracking him down. He is described as about 30, 5-feet-5 and 150 pounds with long black hair and a light complexion. He was wearing a brown hoodie and blue jeans.
Cops detained a man at
the scene who claimed to be the victim’s cousin. He was covered in blood, potentially from the tussle.
Police assured the cousin that he was not under arrest but that they needed to take him into the precinct for
questioning.
Cops are asking the public’s help identifying and tracking the suspect down. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
