New York Daily News

Your condescension is off-putting

- Chris Job

NYou finally succeeded. I showed an article from your paper to a good friend and he asked, “Why do you read that rag?” I didn’t answer him, but the reasons are: tradition; I like to read about local news; Gridlock Sam; the horoscopes; the comics; and the Sunday edition. I only skim the political articles because they are always mean-spirited and one-sided. The most important reason for buying your paper is that my dad used to get it every night when I was a kid. He would take the trash out and bring back the evening edition of the Daily News. I anxiously awaited his return so we could read “Lucky Chan” together. I was in grammar school and it helped me practice reading. I stuck with you despite our differences of opinion, but you finally crossed the line.

The News has been a dividing force in our nation and our city for the past four years. The editors purposely instigate and fuel the anger of their readers depending on our personal views. In a time when we should be healing and President-elect Biden claims he is the president of all people, regardless of how they voted, you call us destructive, devious, despicable and deplorable (“Dear Trump supporters,” editorial, Nov. 21). Well then, you don’t need me reading this paper anymore. I am canceling my subscription, effective immediately.

For those of you still sticking with this rag, I suggest you read articles from different sources after reading the Daily News version. You will learn how real reporting should be done, without bias, and you may even become happier and less hateful. Little did my Dad know that when he thought he was taking the trash out, he was actually bringing it in. Vivian Sturz

Misplaced praise

As if megalomaniac Gov. Cuomo’s head wasn’t big enough, lo and behold! The Idiotic Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has awarded an Emmy to this killer of who-knows-how-many human beings in the nursing homes for his daily coronavirus briefings, which were nothing more than a “How great am I” spectacle. How incredibly despicable and cruel to those families whose loved ones perished thanks to King Cuomo’s egregious and inhumane mandate. Shame on this group of heartless fools to honor this poor excuse for a human being.

Not our problem

Tinton Falls, N.J.: Sen. Chuck Schumer wants the federal government to ante up billions for personal protective equipment for New York State. Gov. Cuomo will not approve vaccine distribution until NYS approves it because he doesn’t trust anything President Trump touches. I say give the state nothing at all. You elected Cuomo and Schumer and apparently, they are the only ones smart enough to do anything correctly, so you are on your own with them. New Jersey has our own problems and we shouldn’t have to pay for your election consequences.

Plainview, L.I.: Can any scientist tell me how many years we all have before we go extinct like the dinosaurs if the coronavirus vaccine does not work? Just thinking outside the box.

Full disclosure

Brooklyn: Eric Adams wants to run for mayor. Will he disclose his internal affairs file and any complaints against him?

Wish you were here

Manhattan: “Mutts” went on vacation, well earned. But clearly, “Mutts” cannot go on vacation. It leaves a hole in one’s psyche. No one likes a day without “Mutts.”
