Suspect in brazen attempted rape of girl, 14, ordered held on $50K bail
A suspect charged with trying to rape a 14-year-old girl in a shocking caught-on-video attack in Brooklyn has been ordered held on $50,000 bail, officials said Sunday.
David Gonzalez, 31, was arraigned and jailed on Thursday for allegedly attempting to rape the girl in the hallway of a Midwood doctor’s office, court documents show. He is currently being held on Rikers Island.
Gonzalez bizarrely handed the girl a set of keys and asked her to open a door for him inside the doctor’s office on Foster Ave. near E. Third St. around 1 p.m. Nov. 22, according to the criminal complaint against him.
As he stood behind the girl watching her open the door he pulled out his penis and flashed the teenager, prosecutors charge.
After exposing himself, Gonzalez tried to grab the girl’s hand and put it on his crotch but the girl tripped and fell, according to court documents.
Gonzalez got on top of the girl, trying to pull her pants down while she screamed for help, video of the attack
released by police shows.
Police said the young girl, who was meeting her mother at the office, kept fighting Gonzalez until he gave up and fled on a moped toward McDonald Ave.
Cops tracked Gonzalez’ movements
for nearly five miles to a home in Crown Heights where he was arrested around 2:05 a.m. Wednesday.
Gonzalez, who lives in Sunset Park, is charged with attempted sexual abuse, endangering the welfare of a child and attempted forcible touching.
