A New York City mayoral candidate is hailing Mary — Trump, that is — for fund-raising support.

Mary Trump, who exposed her uncle President Trump’s shady taxes and family dysfunction in a bestselling book, is planning to host a Tuesday online fund-raiser for Maya Wiley, a top de Blasio aide-turned-MSNBC commentator considered a strong candidate in the race.

“When Maya told me she was running for mayor, I immediately felt more optimistic about the future of New York City,” Mary Trump said in a Wednesday statement. “She knows the ins and outs of the issues the city is facing, and actually deeply cares about them.”

She added Wiley has “the determination, knowledge and empathy” needed to bring the city back from the depths of the pandemic.

Mary Trump met Wiley at an online press conference about the president’s failures.

“Maya is not taking any money from lobbyists or real estate and she is honored to have the support of a diverse set of New Yorkers who have come together because they believe in her vision of a reimagined New York where everyone can get ahead,” Wiley’s campaign manager Maya Rupert said in a statement. “New Yorkers are responding to our message and we are proud of our growing grassroots support throughout the five boroughs.”

The fund-raiser, first reported by The New York Times, will come after Ray McGuire announced he’s entering the crowded race. McGuire, who said he’d step down as an executive vice chairman of Citigroup, has already raised more campaign cash than anyone else in the contest, records show.

Wiley has not held any in-person fund-raising events and has promised to only attend in-person group events if they are outdoors.

Mary Trump’s fund-raiser marks a contrast with efforts for mayoral wannabe Eric Adams, the Brooklyn borough president who’s come under fire for attending in-person fund-raisers during the pandemic.
