The live-in boyfriend of a Staten Island mother whose throat was slit has been charged with murder, cops said Thursday.

Milton Bolton, 39, was taken into custody for questioning after he showed up at Richmond University Medical Center shortly after his girlfriend Natasha Colon was rushed there Tuesday night with a cut throat. Colon died at the hospital.

Cops charged Bolton with murder Wednesday afternoon.

Colon, 38, was found unconscious inside her St. George apartment about 9 p.m. Tuesday.

The victim’s close friend Mike Nunez, 30, said he tried repeatedly to convince Colon to leave the relationship, which he and other friends described as abusive.

“I tried to stop it multiple

times,” he said. “I couldn’t stop her, I couldn’t stop him.”

The NYPD said Thursday it had just one report of a domestic incident involving Colon. That 2007 incident involved pushing and shoving with another boyfriend at a different address.

But Nunez described repeated fights between the couple. “He always used to fight with her about stuff,” he said of Bolton. “He was so competitive. He was always jealous of her.”

At one point, Nunez said Bolton tossed Colon’s possessions out after she went on a trip to Massachusetts.

“She punched him in the face, he punched her in the face. He choked her in front of me. He smashed her head into the wall. I said, ‘That needs to stop,’ ” Nunez said.

“She couldn’t take pictures, she couldn’t use the phone, she was like a hostage ... When[ever] she went back into that house, she was like a slave.”

“This should give males and females an example,” he added. “It’s enough. It’s sick and disgusting. It needs to stop, it’s not cool.”

Colon, known as Tata to those who knew her well, was in the process of getting her four kids back from city custody.

“She told me all of them were taken away from her,”said friend Angelica Gonzalez, 29. “She was moving from here. We were helping her find another place. And now look.”

Bolton’s arraignment in Staten Island Criminal Court was pending Thursday.
