49ers not allowed to play at home again this season

-

The 49ers won’t be heading back to Levi’s Stadium to finish this season.

Levi’s Stadium will remain off limits to the 49ers for their regular-season finale Jan. 3 against the Seattle Seahawks, because of Santa Clara County’s extension on COVID-19 restrictions that ban contact sports.

The 49ers-Seahawks game will be played at State Farm Stadium, where the 49ers have played (and lost) their past two games since relocating Dec. 2 to Glendale, Ariz.

Santa Clara County’s contact sports ban, originally scheduled to lift Monday, instead will run through at least Jan. 8, according to updated protocol that aligns with state restrictions.

The 49ers (5-8) left Friday to play at the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday (10 a.m. PT kickoff).

LIN TO WARRIORS 2.0

Jeremy Lin appears to be rejoining the Golden State organization just days before the NBA season tips off.

Lin is working on a deal to be added to Golden State’s G League team in Santa Cruz, a source told this news organization’s Wes Goldberg. The point guard reportedly must first receive clearance from the Chinese Basketball Association, where he played for the Beijing Ducks last season.

There is currently no start planned for the G League season, so presumably Lin will simply be training and preparing in the event the Warriors need to bring him up to the NBA roster due to injury or possible coronavirus spread.

MORE ACCUSATIONS

Ohio State University has tallied hundreds more instances of alleged decades-old sexual misconduct by now-deceased team doctor Richard Strauss, bringing the total to more than 2,000, according to its latest campus crime data disclosed under the federal Clery Act.

Hundreds of men allege Strauss abused them during his two-decade tenure at the school.

Strauss died in 2005. No one has publicly defended him.

The investigation conducted after an ex-wrestler raised allegations in 2018 concluded Strauss’ misconduct occurred in his work with various athletic teams, a student health center and an off-campus clinic.
