Giving new meaning to snail mail

-

Brooklyn: The post office is a disaster area. President Trump, will you please send in some troops to try to get some of the mail delivered? I sometimes go days without receiving a single piece of mail and I have stopped using tracking because it is a waste of money due to the fact that many pieces have no scans and others have incorrect scans, so you don’t really know where your mail is. What happened to the days when a piece of mail from Brooklyn to Manhattan was one-day delivery? Now it takes at least three. Priority Mail is no better, as that is at least three days to most destinations when it used to be a one- or two-day service.

Many people have not even received their Christmas gifts, which are buried somewhere in the ruins of the postal service. I have a package that is lost in New Jersey for almost two weeks now. Yes, I am a former postal employee who retired 12 years ago only to see things much, much worse than when I left. It’s a disgrace.

I guess the old saying goes, “We don’t deliver for you.” Yes, it’s a pandemic, but don’t use it as an excuse. I have never seen anything like the service we are now getting. Bring back the Pony Express.

I know I’m not the only one to mention this, but the staff of your paper makes a tremendous number of mistakes. So many of them could be corrected by using spellcheck, but it seems no one wants to bother. A few days ago, there was a headline of an article that was complete gibberish. It’s looking like no one cares about their work. That’s so sad. Adrienne Derison

Bardonia, N.Y.: Nothing like showing a photo of a menorah, for Chanukah, with a total of nine candles, instead of a kinara, which has seven candles, for your Kwanzaa article.
